In Praise Of.... Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
The first time I met Paula, the brilliant, walking beauty encyclopedia who founded Paula’s Choice, I embarrassed myself. I became choked up as I told her how much this product had changed my skin and, thereby, my life. A force of a lady – there isn’t much about beauty, formulations and ingredients she doesn’t know – she also welled up in gratitude, which somewhat lessens the mortification I feel whenever I recall the moment. This liquid exfoliator is possibly the one product I have recommended the most to women everywhere. If there was ever an incline that it may be discontinued, I would be thrown into chaos. And take to the streets with my placard. Yes, that’s how significant this exfoliating liquid is to me. It removes dead skin from the surface of the skin, gets rid of any debris in the pores and refines the texture of my skin (smoother, more balanced and a healthy glow). Thanks to the potency of the bacteria-busting salicylic acid in the liquid, I am less likely to breakout when using this. It also makes my make-up-free face look a million times better and acts as a great canvas under my serums, sunscreen and make-up. So you can understand why I am so fanatical about this (I panic when I begin to run out – yes, First World problems). I use it on my skin after my cleanser, splashing it on my face like cologne as opposed to using a cotton pad. Yes, I know a cotton pad is more efficient, but I am convinced it sucks up more product than is absorbed into my skin, which obviously doesn’t make sense. Also a cotton pad encourages me to aggressively and mindlessly swipe across my face. Which is totally unnecessary: this is a liquid exfoliator that doesn’t need any elbow grease to lift your dead skin cells. The word game changer is overused in the beauty industry, but, in this instance, it is fitting. It is the one beauty item I would insist on if I were banished to a desert island. That and sunscreen – because no one needs extra pigmentation problems. paulaschoice.co.uk
