In Praise Of… Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser
Recently I took a look at my beauty stash and I found the majority were modern day polymaths -i.e. they do a bit of everything. Particularly my cleansers. They didn’t just clean, they doubled up as resurfacing masks, as blemish treatments, as brighteners, as housekeepers… You see my point. They did absolutely everything. And that’s not a terrible thing if it works. But I have moments of wondering whether multitasking is a little bit overrated. Sometimes you just want to revel in something that does the one key thing it is supposed to do and does that one key thing absolutely brilliantly. For me, Kate Somerville’s Goat Milk Cleanser is exactly that. Many people have their own ideas about what a ‘good cleanser’ is. They think it is a cleanser that gets your skin so squeaky clean it feels ‘tight’. That, my friends, is not a cleanser, that is paint stripper and your poor out of sync , irritated skin is not thanking you for it. What this creamy, comforting and super moisturising Goat Milk cleanser does, is exactly what a great cleanser should do. It removes impurities, excess oil and make up without stripping the skin of moisture and life. Still, I can see why others get it so wrong. That fine balance of cleansing without stripping, is not as easy as you think but this manages to do it because it has a clever formula. Manuka Honey to nourish the skin, polypeptides to reduce skin inflammation and restore skin barrier, and of course, Goat’s Milk to soothe and moisturize dry and damaged skin. I’ll be honest, the idea of Cleopatra bathing in Goat’s Milk used to make me shudder but after seeing what this cleanser does, I’ll happily swim in the stuff. katesomerville.co.uk
